The inspiration for these wedding invitations and save the dates comes from the destination wedding location, Traverse City, Michigan. I incorporated elements based on location, as requested by the bride and groom, but wanted it slightly abstract so the focal point is the typography of their names. Elements of the cute main street and waves of the bay they will be married in front of make up an almost art deco style illustration.
For these wedding invitations for Lauren and Kyle, they requested something very simple, classic, and elegant. I selected two fonts, one serif and one script, to create a fairly traditional look arranged in a clean, minimal layout. As a finishing touch I worked with Lauren and Kyle to select a high quality slightly textured paper. The design on the right was an alternate version initially presented to the couple in the first round of designs. While it has a similarly clean layout, the font and use of just their first names creates a slightly less formal look.
These designs for Sarah and Seth incorporate contemporary, fun, floral illustrations combined with a clean type layout for a nice contrasting look. Incorporating the same styled design into your table cards can help bring a cohesive look into all your wedding pieces.
Based on an established save the date design, created by a friend and fellow designer, I designed this illustrated map for their Rock Island destination wedding.
