My Clean Skincare Routine

Morning and evening routines are seriously one of my favorite things. To me, finding that perfect way to start and end my day is the best form of self care. A large part of that routine involves my skincare process that I’ve tweaked and perfected throughout the years.

I’ve always had pretty sensitive skin so I am not one to abruptly change the products I use and I prioritize clean skincare that won’t irritate my skin. Below you’ll find both my morning and night routines that I enjoy. I try to keep the morning line up brief, but I truly savor the time it takes in the evening as a chance to unwind and relax before bed.

Morning Routine

Lush Coalface Cleansing Bar. At this point I’ve realized the simpler the better for me when it comes to skincare. So this charcoal bar that I’ve been using for 4 years has made a significant impact in keeping my skin clear. It can be a little drying, especially since my skin is a little dry to begin with, but as long as I follow it with moisturizing products it’s great.

Leahlani Aloha Ambrosia Morning Moisture Elixir. You’ll see a lot of Leahlani products in my routine. This post is not at all sponsored by them- I’ve just continued adding more to my routine as time has gone on since they work so well for me. Plus, as a Hawaiian based company, the array of clean tropical ingredients make me feel as if I’m in some exotic destination for a minute each morning and night.

Leahlani Siren Serum. This vitamin c serum was my first purchase from Leahlani and is still one of the best. It’s so brightening and smells amazing.

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40. I love the way this SPF goes on. Unlike other sunscreens it doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy AT ALL and doesn’t clog my pores or cause breakouts. I did realize recently though that it’s not completely chemical free even though it’s clean on Sephora since it contains Octinoxate, so once I run out of my current bottle, I’m planning on trying the 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen.

Evening Routine

Leahlani Pamplemousse Tropical Cleaning Oil. Of course I had to try double cleansing in my routine when that became popular and I enjoy it as a way to remove excess makeup and dirt before using my charcoal cleaner. I’m not sure how much of a difference this actually makes in cleansing my skin, but I do use it as a replacement for my makeup remover since it easily and gently removes everything (especially when used with muslin cloths).

Lush Coalface Cleansing Bar again.

Lunasea Botanicals Toner. I recently bought this toner at Mudbum. after a facial and so far it seems to be very effective at keeping my skin clear and even, two of my biggest skin issues.

Leahlani Mahina Evening Replenishing Elixir. Just like the morning elixir, my dry skin loves this oil. I go to bed feeling all glowy without my skin seeming greasy or too oily to lay on my pillow. While I haven’t started to buy any anti-aging specific products yet, my skin seems smoother when I use this.

Leahlani Happy Hour Balancing Serum. I added this one to my routine pretty recently since I loved the other serums and elixirs so much. The smell is heavenly and does a great job reducing any redness overnight.

Jade Roller. The jade roller is probably my favorite part of my routine (I’ll often use it in the morning as well). I keep it in the freezer so that it’s really cold and love the way it massages in the serums I’ve just applied and the cold stone tightens up my pores. I’ve tried a couple and the specific one linked is my favorite in quality for the price.

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. I often finish my routine by applying a thin layer of the Jet Lag mask, essentially using it as a heavy duty moisturizer for the days that my skin is especially dry or dull. This is a great and frequent addition in the winter months.
