I had been wanting to try a workout at Yoga 2.0 for a while so I was very excited when it came up as one of the events for Sweatworking Week. I went for an early morning class, starting the day with the relaxing vibe of the studio.
The space overall, from the studio to the locker rooms, was beautiful. The flooring was really nice for a yoga class in that it looked like wood but had a bit of a cushion to it, without feeling as soft as a mat. And as I designer I loved the look of the graphics on the floors that show where to place your mat. The only downside to them was that it forced you to be a little closer to your neighbor than I usually prefer in yoga. I just don’t want to be thinking about whether I’m going to the person next to me while in the middle of a flow.
The class itself that I attended was a combination strength and flow hot yoga class. It had infrared heat, which had me wiping sweat from my forehead before class even began. It always feels good to leave a workout drenched in sweat, as if that means you worked harder somehow. The heat was almost too much for me, but that just comes down to personal preference. I tend to enjoy moderate heat classes, where I can focus less on how hot I am and more on the movement.
When it came to the workout itself, I was definitely surprised by how challenging it was. Between the high heat and the quick pace of the class I was relieved when we made it to the slower stretch at the end. It was pretty different than any class format I’ve experienced before. The yoga flows were fast paced in between bursts of cardio and body weight exercises.
Overall I was so glad I was able to try it and enjoy the unique experience. (And heads up if you want to try Yoga 2.0 yourself, they are on classpass, making it super easy to check it out.)
